Malachy J. Kearney – Senior Associate, Kennedys

  • Malachy is a Senior Associate in Kennedy’s Dublin Office and is dual qualified in Northern Ireland (1999) and in the Republic of Ireland (2003).

    Malachy advises on and manages all aspects of structuring and establishing funds in Ireland, including authorisation and compliance issues with the Central Bank of Ireland. He also advises on ongoing fund maintenance including leverage and fund conversion. In addition, Malachy advises national and international commercial clients on corporate and project finance as well as providing innovative legal solutions for mergers and acquisitions.

    Malachy has exceptional industry and offshore experience, having been in-house counsel to Credit Suisse fund services in the Cayman Islands and head of legal for a major London based fund administrator before joining Kennedys in 2014. He has lectured on alternative finance and holds post graduate qualifications in International Financial Services Law and Finance Law.

     

     

    Title: Alternative Finance Options for the Construction Industry

    Synopsis: This talk would comprise of giving an initial overview on the investment funds/alternative finance industry in Ireland and how they are created and general regulation.

    A short discussion would follow on traditional funding in Ireland for the construction industry.

    The new options available from regulated funds to the construction industry either in loan origination funds, underwriting construction risk or block purchases of land assets by a real estate fund with a joint venture scheme to construct and develop.
