Fiona Higgins – Batik Artist

  • Fiona Higgins paints Donegal landscapes on silk using the batik process. She is inspired by the changing colours of the seasons and the rugged and unspoilt landscape. Her batiks give a feeling of calm and relaxation to the home. Her work has been presented to Prince Charles and she has been featured on Nationwide

     

    Title: Environment and imagery

    Synopsis: My journey as an artist, the development of my work. About the link between the environment, my interpretation of the environment and architecture. How architects in Donegal have been influenced by the landscape and how the design is often an echo of the immediate environment. Eg: Church in Creeslough by architect Liam McCormick and The Pig house in Downings by McGabhann architects.
