Emma is an urban designer with a background in architecture. She has a broad experience in both public and private sector; ranging from mixed-use masterplanning in China to influencing public policy through her work with Crossrail 2 in London. Emma has a specialist interest in housing density and is currently practicing in Dublin.
Title: Reconciling a Societal Need for Density with a Personal Desire for Space
Synopsis: My talk will assess the current housing demand and proposed targets. I will argue that we are aiming too low and that even those conservative targets are likely unachievable, when looked at in the light of adopted policy. I will explain why I think we need to increase density on currently zoned land and how we can create better neighborhoods by doing so.
